MSFS 2024: iFly MAX8 Experimental Compatibility Released

Flight simulation enthusiasts can now get their hands on the highly anticipated iFly MAX8, an aircraft add-on, for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Developer iFly has announced the release of an experimental compatibility version of their popular Boeing 737 MAX 8 for the latest iteration of the simulator.

This release marks a significant step for iFly and simmers eager to fly the MAX8 in MSFS 2024. However, iFly has clearly stated that this is an EXPERIMENTAL release. The developer notes that ongoing changes and work-in-progress elements within MSFS 2024 by Asobo have presented significant challenges, leading to some unresolved compatibility issues.

Users are advised that the release is provided “as is,” with known limitations. For instance, airport maps and the Runway Awareness and Advisory System (RAAS) are currently non-functional due to MSFS 2024’s streaming architecture, though these features are expected in future updates. Additionally, third-party add-ons or mods may not perform as expected.

To install the iFly MAX8 for MSFS 2024, users must have iFly Manager version 1.0.4.0 or newer, ensuring MSFS 2024 is selected within the manager during installation. Existing owners of the MSFS 2020 iFly MAX8 will receive the 2024 version at no additional cost. New customers can purchase the iFly MAX8 through the Flight1 website.

iFly encourages users to report any findings in the designated MSFS 2024 Discord support channel, emphasizing that further progress hinges on Asobo delivering the promised complete backward compatibility. Despite the experimental nature, iFly believes simmers can still enjoy “amazing flights” with this initial MSFS 2024 release.
